On December 9, 2024, Planetary Health Project of Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) released a policy recommendation titled “Integrating Climate and Health for a Sustainable Society: Incorporating a Planetary Health Perspective into Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).” This proposal aims to reflect health perspectives in the revised NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions), which the Japanese government is currently reconsidering in light of discussions on the 7th Basic Energy Plan. The government is expected to advance deliberations on concrete reduction targets by the end of 2024, covering commitments for the post-2025 period.
